Cancellation of meetings 2020
The committee has been discussing the current and likely future decisions that the government will make with regard to the coronavirus pandemic that has stopped all of us in our tracks.
As you will be aware, the series of club meetings starts in April and then on the second Wednesday of each month except August, December, January and February. As current government policy is suggesting that people aged 70 and over, or with chronic medical conditions (or are pregnant) should not mix widely for the next 3 months, that would rule out us holding meetings in April, May and June. As the future is so uncertain however and public meetings may well be cancelled further ahead than that, the committee has decided that no club meetings will be held in 2020. All agree this is terribly sad, but this is an unprecedented situation.
Should the guidance change during the summer, and there is a possibility that meetings could be held September – November, then the committee will let all know. We may send round a flyer with some further information, and will certainly keep the club’s website updated.
The committee is truly sorry to adopt this approach, but the health and safety of all members is our prime concern.
With very best wishes and a hope that the club can start again, either in the autumn, or in the spring of 2021.
